November in the Greenhouse

Welcome to our new blog. We are going to let you know what is happening here within our greenhouses and try to help answer questions that you may have about the products that we grow. We are a wholesale greenhouse in Noblesville, Indiana producing annual flowers for the central Indiana market.

November in our greenhouses is a time of change. We are currently readying ourselves for the upcoming spring season. Many changes are taking place, including, working on our structures, cleaning out all the greenhouses, and installation of new energy efficient heating systems. Even though plant production is low, there are many things that keep us busy in our greenhouses.

Pansies are traditionally the early spring crop in our area. Pansy production for sales at the end of March begins now. The first pansies will be planted next week and grown to be beautiful in March. It is amazing to see how the process works for plant production. From the sowing of the pansy seed to the end product in a garden center will take almost twenty weeks. That is a third of the year!

Keep checking in as we will take you through the journey that is the plant production here at Hood’s Gardens. We are more than happy to try to help answer any questions that you have about a specific plant. We hope that you look for our products on the shelves of your local garden center this spring.
